Realistically, if you’ve worn a basketball shoe or anything residing beneath PERFORMANCE footwear’s rapidly expanding umbrella, then chances are you’ve donned a sports-person’s SIGNATURE shoe at one point or another; it’s inevitable.
Lets face it, without a player-association we may not have taken a second look at most LAUNCHES; you don’t have to admit it, consumerism is a trait shared by the many. But let’s think for a moment, how many BASEBALL players float to the surface when diving into the depths of your mind?
Nike’s AIR GRIFFEY was a pair designed and launched by Tracy Teague in 1996, specifically (and unsurprisingly) for Ken Griffey Jr. who at the time played baseball for the Seattle Mariners. The ‘FRESHWATER’ colourway pictured above is set to retro in 2021 for the model’s 25th anniversary, following a 2016 revival to celebrate his induction into the Baseball HALL of FAME.
